Candidates for Tummy Tuck for Men

However, it is important to understand that a tummy tuck cannot improve the appearance of the mid-section in men with a large amount of intra-abdominal fat. The Procedure
There are three main types of tummy tuck techniques, and the one that is right for you will depend on your individual anatomy and aesthetic goals.
Mini Tummy Tuck
A mini tummy tuck is a good option for those with a small pooch or loose skin or stretch marks below the belly button. A single incision is created just above the pubic mound, through which loose muscles are tightened and excess skin is removed.
Full Tummy Tuck
A full tummy tuck focuses on the length of the abdominal wall. A horizontal incision is created above the pubic mound and excess skin will be removed and abdominal muscles tightened. Sometimes, another incision is needed around the naval to eliminate excess skin above the belly button. Some men may also wish to have etching of the skin to give the appearance of V-lines or a six-pack.
Extended Tummy Tuck
An extended tummy tuck is ideal for patients who have lost a large amount of weight or have experienced multiple pregnancies and are now left with excess, sagging skin. A longer incision is created to remove excess skin from the upper and lower abdomen, and flanks. The abdominal wall is also tightened.
Recovery
Following your tummy tuck, you may experience swelling and soreness for the first week or so. Drains may also be placed to help remove fluid after surgery. Depending on the nature of your job, you may be able to return to work after 2-4 weeks. We will provide you with post-op instructions regarding how to care for your incision sites, how to take prescribed medications, and when to schedule a follow-up appointment at our office.
