Eyelid Lift

What is an Eyelid Lift?

Our eyelid skin is very thin and delicate, which is why signs of aging begin to show earlier than most other areas. If you are bothered by the look of aging eyelids and drooping eyelid skin, you may be able to benefit from an eyelid lift.

Eyelid surgery is a great solution to:

  • Sagging or lax skin on the upper eyelid, which can sometimes impair vision.
  • Bags under the eyes.
  • Fatty pockets that make the eyelids appear puffy.
  • Droopy or wrinkly lower eyelids.

Candidates for an Eyelid Lift

If you feel that your eyelids make you appear sad, tired, angry, or aged, an eyelid lift may be right for you. Ideal candidates for this procedure will be nonsmokers with no medical conditions that may hinder healing. It is also important that candidates do not have any serious eye conditions. Overall, the best way to determine if this procedure is a good match for you is to schedule a consultation appointment at our office.

The Procedure

Eyelid surgery can be performed to target the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both. All incision lines will be specifically placed so that resulting scars will be concealed within the natural folds of the eyelids.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

An incision is created within the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Through this incision, the surgeon removes or repositions fat, tightens muscles, and removes skin.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Incisions may be created just below the lower lash line or inside of the lower eyelid. Excess fat is then repositioned or removed.

In many cases, eyelid surgery is combined along with a facelift or brow lift to achieve more drastic facial rejuvenation.

Testimonials

“I have been a Botox patient for years and had my breast augmentation done as well. The doctor wasn't the typical doctor. He actually sat down and spent time with me making sure I fully understand everything and made me feel less anxious. The office is well kept and the staff was very quick and informative! I would recommend this place to everyone.”

Recovery

Following eyelid lift surgery, you may have bandages and/or eye lubricant on your eyes. During the first two weeks after surgery, swelling and bruising are common and your eyelids may feel tight. Cold compresses and pain medication can help to alleviate discomfort. Many patients can return to work about two weeks after surgery, depending on the nature of their job. During recovery, it is very important that you protect your eyes from the wind and sun, and wear sunglasses when outdoors. Results will gradually appear as swelling and bruising resolve with time.
