What is Male Blepharoplasty?
Did you know that our eyelids are often one of the first areas of our face to show signs of aging? This is true in both men and women, and many men are bothered by the appearance of their aging eyes. Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery, is an effective solution to improving the appearance of the eyelids for a more youthful-looking you.
Eyelid surgery is ideal for addressing:

- Wrinkles.
- Puffiness.
- Bags under the eyes.
- Excess skin that can droop and impair your line of vision.
Candidates for Male Blepharoplasty
Men who wish to appear more awake or alert, healthier and younger, or regain their range of vision may be able to benefit from male blepharoplasty. For the best results, candidates should be healthy nonsmokers with no medical conditions that may hinder healing. Those with serious eye conditions may not be good candidates. Eyelid surgery can treat the upper and/or lower eyelids and is tailored to address your unique anti-aging goals. At our office, we take care to maintain your masculine features while still changing the appearance of the eyelids for a flattering result.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
An incision will be made in the natural crease of the eyelid, through which muscles are tightened, fat is repositioned, and extra skin removed.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
An incision may be created just below the lower lash line or inside of the lower eyelid. Through these incisions, excess skin is removed and fat is repositioned for the desired outcomes.
In many cases, eyelid surgery is also combined with other procedures to address the signs of aging such as a brow lift or facelift.
Recovery
After blepharoplasty, you may have moisturizing ointment placed on your eyes, which may be lightly covered in gauze or bandages. Swelling, bruising, dry eyes, and irritation may occur while your eyes heal. Cold presses, ointment, and prescription medication can be used to lessen discomfort. We will provide you with instructions regarding how to properly care for your eyes, when you can return to regular activities, and when to schedule your follow-up appointment at our office.
