What is Vein Treatment?

Candidates for Vein Treatment
Healthy individuals who are self-conscious of or bothered by their veins and are looking for a non-surgical solution can often benefit from this vein treatment. Individuals will not be good eligible for this treatment if they are pregnant or breastfeeding. The Procedure
Prior to your vein treatment, you will be asked to avoid certain medications such as the antibiotics Tetracycline and Minocin, anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin and ibuprofen, and the steroid Prednisone.
To begin this, your skin will be cleansed, and a special solution is injected directly into the vein. This causes the lining of the blood vessel to swell and stick together, cutting off the blood flow. With time, the vessel turns to scar tissue and fades from view. The number of veins treated in one session will depend on the location and size of the veins, as well as your overall medical condition. Treatment takes 30-45 minutes to complete.

After sclerotherapy, you will be able to drive yourself home and you may resume your regular activities. You will need to wear special support hosiery or compressions to reduce swelling and compress the treated blood vessels. Be sure to avoid hot baths and saunas, and do not apply any form of heat to the injected areas.
