Brow Lift

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift also called a forehead lift, is a procedure to restore a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance to the face above the eyes. Excess lax skin is removed from the forehead and underlying tissues and muscles are repositioned to address a sagging or heavy brow.

A brow lift can achieve the following:

  • Reduce lines and wrinkles that appear on the forehead and between the eyes.
  • Raise sagging brows and hooded upper lids.
  • Places the brows in a more youthful position.

Candidates for a Brow Lift

If you are bothered by frown lines between your brows that make you appear angry or serious and would like to achieve a more youthful brow appearance, you may be able to benefit from a brow lift. Ideal candidates will be individuals who are physically healthy and nonsmokers who have a positive outlook on their results. A consultation appointment is the first step toward determining if this procedure is right for you.

The Procedure

Overall, there are a number of different techniques that can be used to perform brow lift surgery. The one that is right for you will depend on your individual goals, anatomy, and the amount of change desired. This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

A small incision will be created within the hairline, through which an endoscope (thin tube with a camera attached at the end) is placed. Special instruments are used to adjust the tissue and muscle beneath the skin without the need for extensive incisions.

Limited Incision Brow Lift

This technique involves slighter longer incisions than an endoscopic brow lift, which are created behind the hairline above each temple. Tissues of the outer brow area will be lifted and repositioned.

Classic Brow Lift

Also called the coronal brow lift, this technique involves creating a single long incision behind the hairline which runs from ear to ear. Extra fat and tissue are removed and the remaining skin is repositioned to create a more youthful appearance.

Recovery

Following brow lift surgery you may feel slight discomfort or a feeling of tightness across your forehead, as well as swelling and bruising. Most patients can return to a sedentary job after about one week, and after about 2-4 weeks you can slowly resume exercise. Our team will provide you with specific post-op instructions on how to care for your incision sites and properly take any prescribed medications. Please do not hesitate to contact our office regarding any recovery questions or concerns.
