Neck Lift

What is a Neck Lift?

Heredity, gravity, stress, and environmental factors can all take a toll on our skin as we age, resulting in wrinkling of the lower face skin, jowls, or a double chin. If you are bothered by these signs of aging, you may be able to benefit from a neck lift. A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure performed to improve the visible signs of aging on the jawline and neck. It may be performed on its own or along with other procedures such as a facelift.

Neck lift surgery can treat the following areas:

  • Excess fat and lax skin on the lower face.
  • Loose skin on the neck.
  • Extra fat deposits under the chin.
  • Muscle banding on the neck.

Candidates for Neck Lift

Healthy adults who are bothered by excess skin or fat on their lower face or neck can often benefit from a neck lift. Ideal candidates will not have a medical condition that could hinder the healing process, be nonsmokers, and have realistic expectations for their results. Please schedule a consultation appointment at our office today to learn more about this procedure and if it is right for you.

The Procedure

A neck lift can be performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia and is done on an outpatient basis. There is a selection of facelift techniques used today, and the best one for you will depend on the amount of change you would like to see.

Traditional Neck Lift

An incision is created in the hairline near the level of the sideburn and continues down around the ear. Your surgeon will redistribute and sculpt fat from the neck and jowls, and underlying tissues are repositioned. The platysma muscle is also often tightened. Liposuction may also be used to eliminate fat cells under the chin.

Limited Incision Neck Lift

This technique involves fewer and shorter incisions, and results may be more limited than a traditional neck lift.

Testimonials

“I have been a Botox patient for years and had my breast augmentation done as well. The doctor wasn't the typical doctor. He actually sat down and spent time with me making sure I fully understand everything and made me feel less anxious. The office is well kept and the staff was very quick and informative! I would recommend this place to everyone.”

Recovery

Following a neck lift, you may have bandages placed on your face and neck to minimize swelling, a thin drain may be placed to collect any excess fluid under the skin. You may experience a feeling of tightness in the neck, bruising, and swelling. As the swelling resolves, the new contours of the neck will begin to become more visible. Be sure to avoid lifting heavy objects including pets and children for the first few weeks of recovery. It is also important to keep your head elevated above your heart to minimize swelling and avoid applying ice directly to the neck, as this can compromise blood flow. Our team will provide you with specific recovery instructions to ensure the best results.
