What is Laser Resurfacing?

The Procedure
When it comes to laser skin resurfacing, there are two types of lasers that can be used, including ablative lasers and non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers remove the outermost layers of the skin and trigger new skin to heal in its place, while non-ablative lasers do not remove the skin’s surface. Instead, they work by heating the skin below the surface to stimulate collagen growth. The laser that is right for you and your skin goals will be decided from a discussion with your surgeon.
Recovery
Following laser resurfacing your skin will feel as if you have a mild sunburn. Swelling, itching, and stinging may also occur for a couple of days after the treatment. Depending on the specific treatment, your skin may also blister or peel.
