Mommy Makeover

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a selection of personalized cosmetic procedures designed to help a woman address the effects that childbearing can have on the body. This procedure can include a combination of many different surgical and nonsurgical procedures to help contour and slim various areas of the body for a more proportionate shape and a boost in confidence.

A mommy makeover can achieve the following:

  • Tighten loose or saggy skin.
  • Restore breast fullness and shape.
  • Help reestablish your pre-pregnancy body.
  • Boost your overall confidence.

Candidates for a Mommy Makeover

Healthy women who are at their ideal body weight, are finished with childbearing, and have a positive outlook on their results can often benefit from a mommy makeover. If you are considering including breast surgery as part of your mommy makeover, it is important that you wait until several months after you are finished breastfeeding to let your breasts return to a stable shape and size. For more information about candidacy, contact our office today to schedule a consultation.

The Procedure

Prior to your mommy makeover, you may be asked to adjust your current medications, stop smoking, or avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs that can increase bleeding.

Because the mommy makeover procedure is personalized to each patient?s needs and goals, no two surgeries will be exactly alike. This procedure can be performed using IV sedation or general anesthesia and your surgeon will choose the best one for you. Next, the chosen surgeries will take place to help recontour the body and eliminate excess skin, tissue, and fat for a slimmer, more youthful appearance. Incisions will be closed using sutures and/or surgical tape.

Recovery

Recovery time will vary depending on the number and extent of the procedures performed. For those who undergo breast surgery, a support bra will need to be worn to help minimize swelling and support your breasts. You may also be asked to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling of the abdomen, waist, or buttocks. Healing will take several weeks, and results will become more noticeable as the swelling goes down. Our team will provide you with specific aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing and beautiful results.
