What is RHA?
When we make facial expressions such as squinting and frowning our facial muscles contract. When these facial expressions are repeated, dynamic lines and wrinkles such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet can form. Formally, neurotoxins such as Botox were the only treatment for these lines and wrinkles, but there is now another option! RHA is the first and only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) filler for dynamic facial wrinkles and folds.
Hyaluronic acid helps your skin to maintain moisture, structure, and volume for a youthful appearance. However, as we age, our skin loses hyaluronic acid. This filler is specifically created to closely resemble the natural hyaluronic acid in your skin for beautiful, natural-looking results.
Candidates for RHA
Healthy adults who are 22 years and older who wish to smooth dynamic wrinkles and lines can often benefit from RHA. However, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scarring, or are using medications that may prolong bleeding should not receive this treatment. Overall, the best way to determine if you are a good candidate is to schedule a consultation appointment at our office.
The Treatment
To begin, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the skin to ensure you are completely comfortable during your session. During treatment, your injector will determine which areas are to be treated, and then the RHA fillers will be artfully placed. Treatment can take anywhere from 15-60 minutes, depending on the amount of correction desired.

The most common side effects associated with RHA treatment are mild redness, swelling, firmness, itching, and bruising at the injection site. While there is no downtime needed, we advise that you minimize strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, and exposure to intense heat or sun for 24 hours after treatment for the best outcomes. Results can be noticed immediately and can last up to 15 months.
