What is Juvederm?

As we age, our skin loses collagen and elastin stores which can lead to loss of youthful volume, lines, creases, and thinning lips. Juvederm products can help to address these issues without the downtime that surgery entails. Juvederm is a collection of injectable dermal fillers that were formulated to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles and lines, and address signs of facial aging. This collection consists of the following fillers:

Juvederm XC

Addresses moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as smile lines around the mouth and nose by adding volume under the skin. Results can last up to one year.

Juvederm Ultra XC

Adds fullness and plumpness to thin lips in those over the age of 21. It can also smooth moderate and severe nasolabial folds. Results can last up to one year.

Juvederm Voluma XC

Was created to augment the cheeks and chin region. This filler can create definition and shape in the chin and cheek area of adults over 21 years old. Results can last up to one year.

Juvederm Vollure XC

Corrects the appearance of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, including parentheses lines around the mouth and nose. Results can last up to 18 months.

Juvederm Volbella XC

Augments the lips and corrects lines around the lips called perioral lines. Results can last up to one year.

Candidates for Juvederm

Adults 21 years and older who wish to augment their lips, restore lost facial volume, and smooth lines and folds can often benefit from Juvederm fillers. However, those who have a history of severe allergic reactions, are allergic to lidocaine, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of keloid scarring should not receive this treatment. The Treatment

To begin, your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. Then, a fine needle will be used to artfully inject the Juvederm filler of your choice into the appropriate areas. Treatment can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour, depending on the number of areas being targeted and the amount of change desired.

Recovery

After your Juvederm treatment, you may experience temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or itching at the injection sites. While there is no downtime and you can return to normal activities right away, you should avoid sun exposure, strenuous activity, and alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours post-treatment for the best results. Once swelling reduces, final results will become more visible. Results can last anywhere from up to one year to 18 months.
