“Brotox” Botox For Men
What is Brotox?
When you make a facial expression, your facial muscles contract. This can occur throughout the day, every day, until wrinkles begin to form due to these repeated muscle retractions. These wrinkles are called dynamic lines and often appear on the forehead, between the brows, and at the corners of the eyes. Botox is an injectable treatment created to soften the appearance of dynamic lines for a more youthful appearance. Created with botulinum toxin type A, it works by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscle, stopping the muscle from contracting.
Botox, also called “Brotox” when it is used as a treatment for men, is used to treat the following:
- Forehead creases.
- Frown lines AKA elevens.
- Crow’s feet.
- A cobblestoned appearance to the chin.
- Vertical neck lines.
- Lower facial muscles such as the masseters.
Candidates for Brotox
Adults 18 years and older who wish to smooth dynamic lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance can often benefit from Botox injections. The best candidates will be overall healthy with realistic goals and expectations for their results. You should not receive this treatment if you have a history of a neuromuscular disease or are allergic to any of the Botox ingredients (the protein in eggs is also found in this treatment). The Treatment
Prior to treatment, you will be offered the option of a topical anesthetic to help ensure you are comfortable during treatment, though many patients find this unnecessary as the needles used to inject Botox are very thin. Your provider will then specifically inject the Botox into the designated areas, which will feel like a small pinch. Treatment can take anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour, depending on the number of injections needed.

Following Botox you may experience slight swelling, bruising, or tenderness. We advise that you avoid strenuous activity and alcohol consumption for 12-14 hours after treatment for the best results. Also, avoid rubbing or massaging the treatment area as this may cause the Botox to migrate to other areas of the face. Results will be noticeable after about 3-7 days and can last for 3-5 months.
