Xeomin
What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is an injectable treatment that is very similar to Botox. Like Botox, it also contains botulinum toxin type A to block neuromuscular signals, relaxing targeted muscles. However, Xeomin contains a purer form of botulinum toxin and does not contain any protein additives. This purified formula may help to prevent antibody resistance, which can render the treatment useless over time.
This treatment can be used to address the following:
- Lines on the forehead.
- Frown lines.
- Crow’s feet.
Candidates for Xeomin
Anyone 18 years and older who would like to diminish the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles can often benefit from Xeomin. However, you should not receive this treatment if you have had a history of a neuromuscular disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin products. The Treatment
To begin treatment, you will be offered a topical anesthetic to ensure that you are comfortable. However, many people do not find this necessary as treatment is quick and tolerable. During treatment, your provider will mark the areas to be targeted and then artfully inject the Xeomin into the designated areas. This will feel like a small pinch. Treatment may take anywhere from 15-60 minutes to complete, depending on the amount of change desired.

After your Xeomin treatment, you may experience mild redness, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site. While there is no downtime, we do suggest avoiding strenuous activity and alcohol consumption for 12-24 hours after treatment for the best results. Also, avoid rubbing the treatment area to prevent the Xeomin from migrating to other areas of the face. Patients can see results about 3-5 days after treatment, which will last for 3-6 months.
