Otoplasty
What is an Otoplasty?
When you look in the mirror, are you bothered by the appearance of your ears? Perhaps they stick out too much or are overly large. If so, otoplasty may be a great solution! Otoplasty, or cosmetic ear surgery, is done to improve the overall position and shape of the ear for a more proportionate look.

- Overly large ears (macrotia).
- Defects in ear structure present at birth.
- Dissatisfaction with previous ear surgery.
Candidates for Otoplasty
Children, teens, and adults can benefit from otoplasty. Children who are good candidates will be healthy, five years or older, and able to communicate their feelings. Teenagers and adults will be healthy individuals who are nonsmokers and have a positive outlook for their results. The Procedure
The surgical technique used for your otoplasty will vary depending on the type of correction desired. Incisions may be created on the backs of your ears or within the inner creases of your ears. Excess cartilage and skin may then be removed, and the cartilage may be manipulated into the proper position and secured with internal stitches.

Following your ear surgery, your ears will be covered in bandages or dressings for protection and support. Discomfort and itching may occur, though pain medication can help to reduce discomfort. Be sure to avoid sleeping on your side as this can put pressure on your ears. We will provide you with recovery instructions as well as information on when it is OK for you to resume daily activities.
Once your bandages are removed an immediate change will be noticeable in the appearance of your years. Results are permanent.
